Total Blackout at CHS Boys Hostel as Power Supply Restored – Jubilee Gabriel
Residents of the College of Health Sciences (CHS) Boys Hostel recently experienced a complete power outage that disrupted academic and personal activities within the facility. The blackout, which lasted several hours, left students in darkness and forced many to rely on phone flashlights, rechargeable lamps, and power banks.
According to student representative Jubilee Gabriel, the situation caused discomfort and concern among the residents, particularly those preparing for tests, assignments, and clinical postings. He noted that the blackout affected not just lighting, but also water supply systems, charging points, and other essential hostel utilities.
Students reportedly made several attempts to contact relevant authorities and hostel management during the outage. After intervention and technical checks, electricity was eventually restored, bringing relief to the hostel community.
Gabriel expressed appreciation to those who worked to restore power, but also called for improved maintenance and more reliable electricity supply within the CHS hostel. He urged the management of the university and relevant units to put in place preventive measures that would reduce the frequency of such outages.
Many students echoed his concerns, noting that consistent electricity is vital for academic performance, especially in a health-related college where students must study regularly and access digital materials.
